February Virtual 5K Race
This weekend was our very first Virtual Race Results Day. Even with just fifteen runners taking park in the race, they made an interesting field.
With times ranging from just under 40 minutes to just over 20, last month’s results illustrate the essence of what Virtual Running UK is all about – bringing runners of all abilities and experience together to share their enthusiasm for running and racing.
This month’s winners were, for the men, John James McGuirk with a time of 22:04, followed closely by our first female winner, Julia Neufeind coming in at 22:23. Congratulations to both of you!
Both of these runners are also part of our blog hop, so if you haven’t done so already, go and check out our results page or our blog hop page where you will find links to all of our bloggers’ websites.
As well congratulating our winners, it is also important to mention some of our less experienced runners. Lisa Myers celebrated completing the Couch to 5K Program by entering her graduation run time of 38:22 for the race. Many congratulations Lisa for a brilliant first run!
We hope that Lisa will continue to run and race with us as she progresses on her running journey, and that her achievement will encourage more new and would be runners to join in.
As this was our first race, everyone who took part was allocated far more than the minimum number of 10 points towards our end of year awards. The point structure is fairly simple, with separate points tables for male and female runners:
- 1st Place = 50 points
- 2nd Place = 45 points
- 3rd Place = 40 points
- Then, 4th =35 points, 5th = 34 points, 6th = 33 points, and so on down to 10 points
- Every runner receives a minimum of 10 points for each race that they take part in.
While we are all enjoying these early days with plenty of points for everyone, we hope that more of you will join us this month for our Virtual 5K Fundraiser.
As always, there is no charge for taking part. However, if you would like to own one of this month’s medals, there is a charge of £7.50. All proceeds, after the cost of buying the medals, postage and packaging, will be donated to The British Heart Foundation.
If you would like to join us for a Virtual Race, please complete the form below and we will email your registration number, which you can use to enter any of our races.
Congratulations once again to all of February’s runners, and Happy Running!
